Smoke alarms have been used in the private sector for years. According to the OIB Guideline 2 (Safety in case of fire) of the Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering, they are mandatory in new buildings. The Optical Battery Smoke Detector LM-107A fulfils the requirements of the OIB Guideline 2. In addition, the detector has been tested and certified by VdS according to EN 14604.
The Optical Battery Smoke Detector LM-107A uses an optical sensing chamber that is based on the principle of scattered light. As soon as smoke particles are detected by the detector or a function test is carried out, the red LED will blink and the alarm signal will sound. In this way, the occupants are warned early of the fire danger and gain valuable time for leaving the room. The activation will be terminated as soon as the detector no longer detects smoke in the air. An alarm will be stored by the detector for 24 hours and will be indicated by a green LED that periodically flashes up. In this way, the user can tell that an alarm has been activated in her/his absence.
The detector contains a permanently installed lithium battery with a typical life span of 10 years. The end of the battery life will be signalled by an acoustic warning sound for at least 30 days. In this case the detector has to be replaced.
