„Marathon“ is a self-help group for parents and relatives of children who are affected by a muscle disease such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy or spinal muscular atrophy. The association is financed by voluntary donations and offers the children concerned and their families financial assistance, for example if a computer is already needed in elementary school because handwriting gets more and more difficult, and is available as contact for all questions about coping with everyday life. Furthermore, the self-help group sees itself as voice which can make muscle diseases publicly known.
