Standard smoke detectors usually protrude a few centimetres from the ceiling. However, especially in prestigious rooms, protruding devices affect the aesthetic impression. In the case of the low-profile flush-mount optical smoke detectors FL5100-600 from Apollo's SOTERIA® Dimension model range, only a flat, unobtrusive disc is visible. „For the Labor Strauss Group, the low-profile flush-mount smoke detector by Apollo is an interesting expansion of the product portfolio. The smoke detector uses a chamberless detection technology based on the principle of scattered light. Through a combination of three infrared LEDs and two photo diodes, smoke particles are clearly detected directly below the smoke detector. A chip that is integrated into the smoke detector continually analyses the measured data and ensures that smoke can be reliably distinguished from noise variables. The chip uses special algorithms to compensate for contamination, for example of the light entrance window. In this way, the response sensitivity is kept constant for a long period of time and deceptive alarms are ruled out to a great extent.
Furthermore, through the fire detection control panel the sensitivity of each smoke detector can be individually adjusted to the respective potential danger. The smoke detector is installed in the desired indoor place by means of a hollow wall box which also contains the detector base. The smoke detector FL5100-600 is connected to the detector loop and it is addressed by the LST fire detection control panel through the Apollo protocol.
The smoke detector FL6100-600 from the same model range has an identical range of functions. However, it has a sturdy metal faceplate and tamper-proof screws, which gives it higher resistance to unauthorized intervention or damage. Therefore it is ideal for use in prisons, youth centres and health care facilities.
